Design and implementation of a global governance model in AI
Challenge
Define and implement a global governance model in artificial intelligence that would guarantee compliance with the Artificial Intelligence Regulation (RIA), adapting the operations of an international group to the standards and requirements established by the European Union.
The project was intended to align the governance model with local regulatory frameworks and ensure the integration of best practices in the different regions where the company operates.
Approach
ECIX collaborated with the group in defining and implementing an operating model for governance in artificial intelligence aligned with the RIA, ensuring its consistent application across all subsidiaries and business units.
The work included the creation of organizational structures and control mechanisms for compliance management, along with common procedures for evaluating, categorizing, and monitoring AI systems.
A methodological framework was developed to classify systems according to their risk level, ensuring traceability, transparency, and regulatory compliance. Furthermore, contractual protocols were established with third parties, guaranteeing coverage of legal and technical obligations related to AI within the supply chain.
In addition, a global inventory of AI systems was created that provides a consolidated view of the models in use, their level of risk, their compliance status, and their life cycle.
Results
Thanks to this project, the group was able to align its global AI strategy with the European regulatory framework, ensuring consistent and sustainable compliance.
A robust governance model was consolidated, with clearly defined roles, responsibilities and processes, which allows for the effective management of the technological and regulatory risk associated with artificial intelligence.
The company strengthened its oversight capacity, improved transparency, and reinforced its reputation as an organization committed to responsible innovation and regulatory compliance in AI.
